Camp REECE is a nonprofit camp for persons with disabilities founded in 1968 by a group of local parents and church members who wanted to provide a safe outdoor camping experience for their own children and other members of the community. It was named Camp REECE (Religious Experience for Exceptional Citizens in a Camping Environment). The camp is held for one week in the summer at Lake Darling Youth Center in Brighton, Iowa which is adjacent to Lake Darling State Park.

Camp REECE is funded in part by an endowment, donations from local businesses and individuals, as well as a modest registration fee charged to the campers. Approximately 80 campers attend each year and their care is provided by about 50 volunteers who provide cabin supervision, dining hall services, and nursing care. A board of directors, who have many years of experience with camp, makes decisions and helps Camp REECE provide this rewarding service to the community.

Daily activities at camp include things such as cooking, crafts, nature activities, boating and fishing. Each night we gather together with members of the community from local churches for songs and prayers. Our evening activities include campfires, skits, and movies. We end our week with a large dance where other members of the community are welcome to join in on the joy of Camp REECE.
